Getting the best

He will give you the desires of your heart.

Years ago I decided I wanted to buy a motorcycle. I had one in mind that I saw at the local dealership that was just what I wanted. So I prayed about it then went and applied for a loan. Well the loan didn't go through and I was downcast for a while wondering why God wouldn't let me get the bike. But after a while He showed me the error in my thinking and I accepted the fact I wasn't supposed to get the bike. As my heart changed I was willing to accept whatever His will was. A few weeks later a friend approached me with an offer to buy a bike with a group of Christian brothers. The bike was the same as the one I had attempted to purchase only it was a year newer and had a larger updated engine. Also my friends dad would loan us the money. So I got what I wanted but by submitting to God's will I got the best deal because of the group purchase and a whole lot better bike. God always has the best in mind for us and if we submitt to His will we will get it. What is hard is learning what the best is and that it may not be the first impression of our heart.

Joy of His will

Why pray God's will?
1Jo 5:14 "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."
He IS Love not just loving. He IS Truth not just truthful. He IS Righteousness not just righteous. He IS The Way not just someone who leads. He IS Goodness not just good. That's why He said his name is I AM. He is the living source. Since He is Perfection I know that whatever His will is it will be the right way. When, by His Spirit, I accept that and I focus on letting His will flow through me in prayer I am filled with an overwhelming joy stemming from faith. The only thing I can relate that joy to is "Out of their bellies will flow Living Water" (God's Spirit Himself).
I HATE NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCURATELY PUT INTO WORDS WHATS ON MY HEART. IT'S SO MUCH BIGGER THAN WORDS.

He's already there!

Here’s a true story of something that happened to me that has helped me tremendously when times get tough. I know this will sound like a good story but I guarantee that every bit of it is totally factual.

At one time I worked for a family that all but adopted me after God delivered me from drugs, booze, etc. I was taking a load of new carpet to a facility they owned in North central Iowa. It was late September as I was on I-35 heading north from De Moines when it started to snow very heavily. Now the trailer I was using was a couple feet shorter than the carpet which wasn’t completely wrapped for protection. The snow was wet and sloppy and I knew that if something didn’t happen fast this carpet could be ruined. I cared very much for this family for their great kindness to me so I started praying for God to do something. I kept praying and speaking God’s word to the storm when I noticed that the clouds were getting lighter but oddly only in a narrow band directly in front of me. Shortly I drove out of the snow but it was snowing like crazy on the left and right sides of the road but not a flake on the road itself. As you can imagine I was shocked and excited. I drove for quite a few miles when it started getting dark and started snowing hard again. Just to show you how graceful God is and how unfaithful I am, the first thought in my head was “hey God what’s the deal here”. Well I thought I’d better start praying again and after a while I see the sky getting light ahead of me again but this time the narrow band in the clouds appeared to be off to the right by a 1/2 mile. Again my faithlessness showed through and I thought “hey God you missed it.” But then I came over a hill and saw that the road curved to the right for 1/2 mile and then back left and I drove under the band of light clouds again. Again it was snowing on the left and snowing on the right with not a flake on the road. It's hard to explain my feelings by that time but I can assure you I was in a state of awe and joy. Then I hear His voice in my mind saying “Galen I know where you are, I know where you’re going, and I’m already there”
Not much more I can say other than He is better and has better for us than we can imagine. May God's peace purchased for you through Jesus, be with you always.
